Ross Huggins (1916–1999) was a Canadian painter renowned for his evocative landscapes, born in Toronto and formally trained at Western Technical School under L.A.C. Panton, Rowley Murphy, and George Griffin ([galeriedartyvondesgagnes.com][1]). After working as a commercial illustrator in Toronto and Montreal—including a stint in the art department at Meco Limited in 1942—he travelled and studied in the UK and Europe that same year. Huggins later became Art Director at Young & Rubicam in 1956 and at McKim Advertising in 1959, painting landscapes on weekends and holidays. After retiring in 1969, he devoted himself fully to painting, creating vibrant depictions of Quebec locales such as Baie-Saint-Paul and the North Shore, exhibiting at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, and earning the Prix Fine Arts Award four years in a row (1966–1969). His work has been sold at prominent auction houses and is held in private collections across Canada, the US, UK, Europe, and Russia.
